ASIDES

Bloody Poems

There is a persistent rumor that poetry is dead. It’s entirely possible. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen any of my poems stand up and walk off the page, so maybe it’s true. Then again, I know people who are walking around without the least sign of life. It may be that poems are like people – some alive, some dead. I do know this: both poems and people are capable of bleeding, grieving and praising.
